Soon after the 2016 Election, fellow writer Katie and I grabbed hummus bowls and went over to the Museum of Science to listen to a brand new storytelling series called Stories Under the Stars, hosted by Ari Daniel. The theme of the night was “Light in the Dark” and featured stories both scientific and deeply personal. They tackled topics as broad as the Big Bang, to a graduate student pursuing her childhood dreams of astronomy, to a young girl and her family as they endured air raids on their home. They moved us deeply and I couldn’t resist tackling this topic as well but from an art history approach instead. I hope that this series of short pieces will tackle topics both aesthetic, historical, and philosophical. I hope you stick around and that these pieces will help you see familiar topics in a new light.
